September Artistic Inspirations Blog

We are having an anything goes challenge at the Artistic Inspirations Blog.

Our sponsors this month are: Make it Crafty

My steampunk inspired card uses Steampunk Chesire Cat coloured with promarkers and Sparkly gel pens.  I wanted to recreate the slightly off square and higglilypiggly effect by using a larger black square and setting the image at an angle.

Creative Ladybirds Creations

We are having an anything goes challenge at the Creative Ladybirds Creations Blog..

Our sponsors this month are: Ike's Art  offering 5 images to the winner and Lacy Sunshine Stamps  offering 3 images to the winner.

After a recent trip around London to look for the Shaun the sheep statues I went to Devonshine Square  near Liverpool Street station and saw the knight statue, it's so impressive.

This gave me the inspiration for one of my projects this month using the image knight from Ike's images. I coloured the image with Promarkers to make a bookmark for my father-in-law as part of his Father's Day gifts.

Ingredients:

Brown Centura Pearl card
Gold rope effect

I am a massive fan of Lacy Sunshine so when I saw this rockabilly image I had to colour her in my favourite reds.  To finish her off and give a real 50's style I used a free digital frame I found at Create with TLC.

Rainy Saturday part 2

After my photography day was cut short by the rain (see rainy Saturday part 1). I got out my promarkers.

I coloured up Sarah Jane and Nibbles Ready For The Ball by Lacy Sunshine.   The image reminded me of Belle from beauty and the beast.  I had the idea of putting her in a frame that looked a bit like the magic mirror. I remembered that I had downloaded a frame from Opal Manor a while back so I printed it out colouring it in silver and gold and decorated it with gem brads.

I put them together and covered it acetate to make it stand up.

I am going to enter this in to the following challenges:

Rainy Saturday part 1

I planned to spend all morning doing nature photography and the afternoon taking photographs of the cricket team my husband scores for. Unfortunately the weather wasn't having any of it. I got some and then the rain set in and I went home. Here are a selection of my shots.

I'm not happy with them, but there's always next week.

A challenge

My husband is my best critic, so I ask his advice about colours etc. A few days ago he asked me why I buy more stuff when I've got so much already.  My response was its all useful.  With my permission he routed around in my craft space and constructed his own stash challenge 'Challenge Anne' and challenged me to make a 3D card using the following:

One lacy sunshine digital image,
Metallic gold card,
Flower gem embellishments,
A sheet of borders,
Two sentiments and
A sheet of acetate.

The only brief was to be cute. The result is below:

He was delighted with the results and will be using it for our nieces birthday.

Fireman nephew

My great nephew was one this week. Time flies it doesn't seem that long. He's very cute all blond hair and blue eyes.  His current favourite thing is Fireman Sam. I wanted to make a card that would appeal to him and his parents.  I had an idea to make a card that would stand up like a plaque.

After a good hunt around I found a digi of a small boy playing with a fire engine on the deariedolls blog. You can find it here http://freedeariedollsdigistamps.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/junior-fireman.html?m=1.

I had a sheet of Kanban background with a fence and blue sky, so I decided to    find a digi of a fire engine to colour and use as a background for a card which would feature a child in a garden playing with a fire engine while a fire engine goes past.

Here's my attempt

Frame it right

A few weeks ago my mother-in-law presented me with a sheet of A4 shiny green card.  It had been in her craft box for ages but she couldn't find a use for it.  I've been wondering what to do with it for a while and when I was on the train last night I had a really strange idea, I would try to make a frame out of it. So when I got home I got out my trusty crafters companion ultimate pro and boxer board.  I didn't want to create the same old square box type frame so I made the sides triangular.   I was really pleased with the effect that it created so I decorated it with some gold effect peel offs and used it to frame a Lacy Sunshine image (Constance Cherish Wings) I coloured a few weeks ago.   To make it stand up I used a Tim Holtz easel die from my collection.

Promarkers used:
Skin tones: apricot, saffron, vanilla and blush
Lips purple gel
Hair: colour: burnt umber, terracotta, and chestnut.
Dress: plum, amethyst and lilac.
Cat: ice grey 1,2 and 3

Steampunk Queen

It was a close friends birthday a few weeks ago.  She won't mind me telling you that she is a little bit eccentric and amongst the loves in her life are football, (the not so mighty O's) and steampunk designs.  She wishes she was brave enough to start dressing in the fabulous clothes but in her own words "being a lady of a certain age, I'd look ridiculous".   Her love of steampunk inspired my choice of birthday card for her this year.  I found the perfect image whilst looking at the work of Heather Valentin (aka Lacy Sunshine Stamps).  The stamp is called Queen of Hearts. This stamp reminded me of my friend so I took a risk and coloured the hair grey, I really think it works.

Promarkers used:
Skin tones: apricot, saffron, vanilla and blush
Lips and eye shadow: magenta
Hairice grey 1,2 and 3
Dress:
Redburgundy, Cardinal Red and Crimson
Greyice grey 3,4 and 5.
Goldsleigh bells 2013 limited edition colour
Flowers:
Green: pine and grass
Red: hot pink, ruby and magenta
Card:
Hunkydory adorable scorable
Centura Pearl Snow White
Sentiment: Hunkydory

My new crafty passion.

Since a Facebook friend introduced me to Letraset Promarkers I have been addicted to colouring digital images. With so many wonderful and talented designers and artists out there I am never stuck for inspiration.   Amongst my most favourite designers is artist Heather Valentin of Lacy Sunshine Stamps http://lacysunshine.weebly.com.

This is the first hand coloured card to feature on my blog.  I used one of Heather's stamps 'Abigail Lil Angel Cherished Wings'.  I had no real plan in mind when I made this card other than to use purple.

I used the following:

Promarkers
Skin tones: apricot, saffron, vanilla and blush.
Hair colour: burnt umber, terracotta, and chestnut.
Dress: plum, amethyst and lilac.

Card:
Centura pearl lilac card.

Embossing folder:
free from a craft magazine.

Sentiment Stamp:
Clearly Besotted stamps
